Services to the Community |
Post Falls Food Bank is a private, non-profit community organization whose purpose is to solicit and distribute food and other necessities free of charge for needy people in the Post Falls and surrounding impact area. Our services are provided to anyone meeting minimum Federal Income Guidelines. These are the services we provide to our community: |
Food Baskets |
Our food basket will feed a family for a week. It includes canned food, cereal, pasta, rice, and meat. A food basket is available every 60 days for families and every 30 days for seniors and disabled people. Personal supplies and cleaning supplies are added when available. Click here to see what is in typical food baskets. |
Food Recovery & Surplus Program |
We utilize day-old bread, fruit, dairy, vegetables, and goodies donated by local grocery stores. Customers receive these products once a week. |
Seeds for Gardening |
In the spring we provide seeds for gardening. |
Referral System |
We assist our clients to locate other helping agencies. We resource through United Way and the Information & Referral (NICON) Directory, and their network of agencies. |
Vouchers |
The Salvation Army provides us with vouchers for bus fair, special food, and medicine. |
School Supplies |
Our program serves low-income children in Kootenai County. We provide them with school supplies. We have helped over 1,000 children with this program. This program is funded through donations and a Kootenai Electric grant. |
Coats for Kids |
Coats for Kids: This program starts in October and goes thru March. With the help of KXLY-Channel 4, anyone who needs a coat can get one. This year we gave over 4,000 coats. Coats that are not distributed by March are given to local Churches to distribute to the needy in the community. |
Hats and Gloves |
In October and November we collect hats and gloves and distribute them to children and seniors. |
Boots |
Windermere Realty donates boots to give to needy children. |
Senior Blankets |
We started our Keep Warm Program for seniors because seniors begin turning their heat down to save money on their utility bills. We provide blankets, when available, to help keep them warm. Local churches and knitting groups donate quilts and afghans for this program. |
Holidays |
Special food is provided for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as toys when available. We coordinate with Christmas for All. |
